Been coming here only since VL took over the old Kipps shop. Honest, good work at a fair price. Also they’re just plain lovable. What else can you ask for. I used to do price / quality comparisons with my old go-to mechanics depending on the job that needed to be done. No good reason to look anywhere else when you find VL, just come here only. First impression is excellent. Alex found a small fitting that was the source of the freon leak, changed it, added freon and voila! We drove 150 miles with cold air and the price was absolutely reasonable. I will be returning for sure.

If your looking for honest mechanics that will get the job done on the North Side of Chicago; save this location. They got my truck towed from the South Side to their body shop; good price. They then changed the almost 10 year old alternator and almost 7 year old battery on my 2011 Highlander for a great price. Great PEOPLE with the service to match. Thanks fellas💪😎

Called on Friday at 2pm for a fuel pump issue had me back on the road by Saturday 2pm. He connected me with a tow truck that had the lowest rates around. Also gave me the best price on repairs as well as getting me in and completed faster than any other mechanic I called. I can’t recommend this shop enough. Great work. Great customer service. VL runs a very organized and tidy shop with good turn around times and polite service. If you appreciate small, neighborhood based businesses, this is for you. Contemporary auto design and manufacturing makes any repair crazy expensive these days, but that is not on the car repair guys.

Had a weird noise under the hood, so I swung by VL Auto on Milwaukee. Alex checked it out quick and gave me options—no pressure, just straight talk. Left my car around 10am, picked it up by 4. Spent about $180 for the fix. Appreciate the honesty and fast turnaround. Only knock: waiting area's a bit cramped. Still, solid spot for car repairs in Portage Park.

Fernando and Alex are the best mechanics that I know in the Chicagoland area! Very professional and honest, the service is very fast and they tell you exactly what the problem is. They are the only mechanics that i trust because they tell me the truth, never try to take advantage from the customers like other shops.
